For my Colour Gel Portraits tutorial video I went to St. Louis in the US to shoot many setups as part of the training featured in the 22 hour video. One of those sections focuses on a day of shooting on location with coloured gels. The fashion story we were working with on the day wanted a series of images from two models, one with a look and feel of a "Light" side and one with a look and feel of a "Dark" side. These were the resulting images from that days Dark side.

A photoshoot in a 1790's mansion that was once owned by Led Zeppelin. The shoots ethos was to introduce the vivid colours of our modern neon world and overlay that onto the backdrop of a weathered and worn interior of times past.

I like to try and create a sense of passion or feeling within my shots without always having to rely on the model to do all the work. Sometimes I will use lighting techniques to blur or distort certain areas of the shot but with this project I relied on a specific lens to create the theme. I used the LensBaby Composer Pro lens to tilt my plane of focus thereby creating a sense of movement where there was none, as a result it forces the viewers gaze through the image, straight to where I want them to look.
